Earlier today, just before Kentse Masilo, winner of Project Runway South Africa season 1, jetted off to Paris to exhibit her collection at the Premiere Classe exhibition during Paris Fashion Week, we had a chinwag with her to find out what top five fashion staples she was taking with her – in addition to her sublime winning collection.
The creative expressed her excitement for the trip and that her travel basics are strongly motivated by the weather condition at the destination. Bidding farewell to the warmth of the South African sun, Kentse will arrive in Paris which, according to weather reports over the past few months, has experienced nothing short of an icy winter, tomorrow morning. But, as they say, Paris waits for no fashion maven and Kentse’s choices are particularly smart and highly necessary. A survival kit if you wish to call it that, here are Kentse’s top five fashion staples for her suitcase.
#1: A Cosy Coat
Coated in the chill of a French winter, Kentse will need that extra layer of warmth on days when its more rain than sunshine.
#2: Fitted Black Jeans
Dressed up or down, a pair of comfortable jeans that fit well can bump your outfit up a notch or two.
#3: Turtle Neck
A thick turtle neck to keep you warm and that goes with most bottoms is a beneficial choice.
Because every important fashion designer needs a pair of sunglasses à la the late Karl Lagerfeld, right?
#5: The Nabula Bag
This bag is part of Kentse’s SPACEX Capsule Collection and is available to order directly from Kentse Masilo’s Instagram account @bespoke_kentse.
