There is something alluring about perfume. Perhaps it is the magic it weaves in our memory banks, perhaps it is the faint scent that lingers in a room long after the wearer has gone, or perhaps it’s a way that we identify ourselves.
We attended the exclusive opening of Maison Christian Dior Parfums store, based in Sandton city, Johannesburg – and it left us completely breathless.
A first for Africa, the chic scenting space comes dressed in clean lines of white marble and light grey concrete polish, balanced beautifully by its warm wooden floors.
A display of scents ranging from floral, sensual to oriental, are set against a beautiful wall showcasing a window into Grasse that screams pure luxury.
The evening, which included sampling the 22 scents on offer, left us conflicted as to which completely stole our hearts (they are all delicious). But, if we had to choose, standouts would be the sensual, yet unique, aroma of ‘La Colle Noire from the exclusive collection, La Collection Privée and the recently launched, fresh and feminine ‘New Look 1947’ – perfect for a summer’s day soirée.

The ambiance of the store is complemented by ‘the art of living’ space, dotted with candles housed in white French porcelain. This range of sensual and decadent scents, each with 65 hours’ burning time, is the perfect spoil for yourself – or the one you love.
