When we think of Stan Lee, who passed away yesterday at the age of 95, we can’t help but smile, as we remember the genius works by this editor, writer and publisher. With a career that spans over 80 years, Lee will be remembered for his contribution to Marvel comics as the co-pioneer behind the popular culture characters and comics of Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Thor, among others.
As a writer whose work has ultimately transformed the world of entertainment, Lee was a master at imaginative story-telling, often producing and co-producing more than six titles of work in a month, and was one of the youngest contributors to Marvel.
Peaking in his career during the 1960s and unravelling, morphing and molding comics into what we see today, he is often credited for adapting various superheroes and comics into characters that have the ability to tap into emotion.
Much like his characters, Stan’s death has resulted in us tapping into our emotions as we mourn the death of an individual that recreated and adapted the comic industry. Celebrities have also taken to social media to express their feelings and extend their condolences as they remember his work. Here are a few of our favourite:
View this post on InstagramWe lost a good one. What a man and what a life. Marvel’s original superhero and co-creator of IRON MAN, SPIDER-MAN, THE HULK, X-MEN etc. When I first broke into Hollywood, years ago he was so warm and welcoming to me - I’ll never forget it. He gave me very sage advice on navigating a career, that I’ll always carry. What a life he’s lived and how awesome that his imagination and universe creation impacted generations around the world. And for generations to come. Rest in love, my friend. #imagination #stanlee 💫 📸 @hhgarcia41
