Put your hands together for our 2014 Rising Star and her winning Geometrics collection:
‘Tamara’s collection has international flair. It is impeccably designed and executed. Her hunger and drive from the get-go until the very end showed a determination that we were looking for in our Rising Star winner,’ comments Emilie Gambade, ELLE’s editor.
ELLE’s Tarryn Oppel: ‘Tamara Chérie Dyson
Everything – the contrasted fabrics, hints of white and metallic leather, down to the merino wool and felt bags – all came together with impeccable quality and a modern flair, which made her our 2014 Elle Rising Star winner.’
‘Tamara Chérie Dyson proved that she is a designer who understands the aesthetics of fashion and has the ambition and grasp of commercial demands to grow a successful fashion brand. Tamara’s conviction is so strong that she has already targeted a luxury womenswear market with impeccable fabrics, fit and quality.’ – Jackie Burger
‘The PROJECT by MRP range kicked off the show with bursts of colour and sparkle, reminiscent of a modern day prom night.’ – Tarryn Oppel
And our 2014 ELLE Rising Star finalists:
‘A whimsical, street art-inspired collection took to the runway next with hand-painted prints and an almost whimsical feel was projected through bouncy hems and sleeves. The graffitti-inspired prints give Nadia’s collection edge.’ – Tarryn Oppel
Michelle Van Der Westhuizen
‘A remixed version of Tennis Court by Lorde got everyone’s attention as a more playful collection emerged with hints of check combined with structured felt, linen and wool. Michelle’s Coast-to-coast collection was cohesive and conceptual.’ – Tarryn Oppel
'Kelli Botha's AndrogonyousInside collection was filled with voluminous structure, a monochrome palette and an overall minimalist urban feel. Sports-luxe to the max.’ – Tarryn Oppel
‘This is craftsmanship at its finest. Laser-cut details, original prints and a combination of silk and structure reflected a strong sense of heritage and sophistication.’ – Tarryn Oppel
‘The collection had a very sleek sense of style with definitive block prints, while sequins, glass organza and metallic kept it freshly futuristic. Inspired by the online world, social media and her fascination with pixels, her concept was translated with the keyboard accessories and holographic edge.’ – Tarryn Oppel
