Or rather, we have a judge! As you know, we’ve been on the lookout for an ELLE reader to join our panel of judges for the ELLE Rising Star Design Award in association with Mr Price. Someone with fashion knowledge and a discerning eye who could help decide who will win this prestigious award, and be a guest at the ELLE Rising Star Design Award red carpet finale in September. Drumroll please, as we introduce our winning reader judge, Shaakira Chohan.

I’m all for ‘new talent’ and ‘emerging talent’ – I’m also all for style and fashion not being an exclusive art. It is about expression + individualism, but it is also about accessibility. So when two brands that for me, encompass such qualities of inclusion, accessibility, beauty, art, and swoon, come together in a collaboration like the ELLE Rising Star Design Award, it is bound to be an explosion of awesome.

Maybe I am unknown in the … fashion social circle, maybe I’m that person that seems to be gatecrashing; but have you considered my expression and individualism?

I may just be your undercover ‘new talent’.

So we live in a social networking twitterverse where bio’s can be overtly exaggerated, and you need some factual convincing? Ok, how about this :

-       I am passionate about fashion, its expressions and processes. My style cannot be described in one or two words, but I love mixing textures and contrasts in a tasteful, and surprising way.

-       I am an architect, a designer, an inspired creative soul – who understands design and its processes

-       I am a photographer working in the wedding and freelance fashion industry

-       I acted as fashion editor for a student magazine called StelliesJol

-       I was the winner of the Porsche Design blogging competition run through iFashion

An ELLE Rising Star Design Award guest judge perhaps? … I sincerely hope so!
