We asked cool industry insiders to tell us what’s on their bedside tables. Here’s what they dished:

Sandiso Ngubane, The Frock Report

‘On my bedside table I have a bunch of the latest fashion magazines, which is staple reading material for me. I also have my laptop because most of my reading these days is online. This ranges from my international favourites – Mr. Blasberg, Garance Doré, The Cut – to local blogs like Skattie What are you Wearing and Missmillib, among others. I also keep a bottle of either water or juice, because I have to have a sip each time my sleep gets interrupted. I’m not sure why, I guess it’s just a habit.’

I’m reading Act Like a Lady Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey. The Quran and the Bible are also there, along with Eight Days in September by Frank Chikane, plus a small jug of lemon water and a glass.

Sadly, since I got my tablet, there haven’t been any books on my bedside table. These days I am on my tablet catching up on my favourite fashion blogs, news sites or movies. I am currently loving Japanese Yaoi  movies (homo-romantic movies written by female authors) and there are so many on YouTube. I’ve also downloaded a couple of book titles, mainly around veganism as I am currently trying to make a transition to a plant-based diet.  My absolute favourite at the moment is Vegan Soul Kitchen because it’s all about tasty, soulful vegan food that one can enjoy and not feel like something is missing.’

Gareth Cowden, designer, Babatunde

‘I am reading Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen. It is an entertaining, easy read with lots of humour. Expect many outbursts of laughter.’

Suzaan Heyns, designer.

‘I am reading Lonely Planet – Guide to Sri Lanka. I always research places before I visit them and Sri Lanka is my next vacation spot.’

So, what are you reading at the moment? Anything we need to get stuck into ourselves?

thandy on 8/6/2012: I have stacks of books on my bedside and I bought a side lamp on Friday so that's taking space. I'm currently reading Power of a Praying Woman. I also have ( still to read) The Help/God of small things/Spud 3rd edition and my cell phones.
Kay on 8/7/2012: OMG Garance Doré is possibly my favourite blog! She is so witty and cute and Parisian :) Mr Blasberg is also a really great one, he writes amazingly well and is a bona fide fashion journalist... I'm reading Scenes of a Courtesan by Balzac... über dramatic!
