Are they RayBans we’re wearing on our hands? No, no – they’re just our nails

Feast your eyes on the sunglass-effect nail art.

?TREND ALERT? Sunglass nails ? spotted in Korea. Who wants them first?!!? #nofilter

We know – after the summer trend of mirrored nail varnish and galaxy-inspired talons, we didn’t think we needed another nail trend to get obsessed with either, but we’ve latched onto this nail art quicker than when the ELLE team heard there was a Mulberry sale round the corner.

Earlier this week, New York-based celebrity manicurist and Paintbox creative director Julie Kandalec posted a picture of a sunglass-effect nail while traveling around Seoul, South Korea and we must admit, we want our mitts on the nail art pronto.

‘It’s so incredibly eye-catching, and it changes colours as you look at it — kind of like how RayBans and fall leaves do,’ Kandalec told Refinery 29.

‘Plus, chrome nails as we know them are done with an extremely fine pigment. The final effect is super-cool, but the application process is very messy. To me, this looks more like a single nail covering, which would make it a one-step process,’ she added.

A one-step process? You mean we don’t have to dip, powder, swipe and dot our nails in multiple layers of goo, trembling with the fear we’ll smudge them?

So, we’re not quite sure where we can get the sunglass-effect nail art done as yet (don’t worry, we’re on the look out and will keep you posted) so in the meantime, we’ve taken to digging out our RayBans and mirrored nail art in an attempt to recreate the look.

Welcome, summer.
