Designer

We’re looking for a talented senior designer at the ELLE HQ in Cape Town. The person will work closely with our editor and consulting creative director to  ensure that the design process runs smoothly and that the end product is up to ELLE’s impeccable standard. Main responsibilities

  • Directing ELLE’s visual content and look and ensuring that layout and picture usage conforms to the international standards of the ELLE brand
  • Designing the entire magazine and maintain and improve the design and layout throughout
  • Ensuring consistency in the magazine layout
  • Creating new styles, identities and design standards
  • Ensuring that the end product is of the highest quality
  • Working closely with the editor on photo selection and editorial flow.
  • Designing and consulting on the cover
  • Keeping the design templates up to date and constantly improving them
  • Mentoring the designer/s in the studio
  • Overseeing the repro process and signing off pages before going to print
  • Ensuring that the design process runs smoothly and that the magazine is sent to print on time

Minimum requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • a degree or diploma in graphic or visual communication design
  • three to five years’ relevant experience, preferably in the consumer magazine market
  • an interest in fashion, beauty and lifestyle
