Jenna McArthur popped in at Durban-based ad agency Wisdom and Youth to see what the cool kids of the design world wear to work (see page page 46 of our October issue). Here, as promised, are a few more pictures of the cool crowd in their work space!

SNAPS FROM SHOOT DAY:

Office Style

Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves furnish the loft space of the agency where worn leather couches make for a welcoming library-style space for daily inspiration. New York comes to Durban!

Neville Trickett

Neville Trickett, (above) owner and creative and strategic director. Dear Neville, we’re obsessed with your handmade brogues. We want them, we really, really do. Neville got this pair from Alex at T&F Slack Shoemakers in London.

Each work space makes ‘creative overload’ come to mind.

Angelique Jansen van Rensburg, art director

‘I like to experiment with my wardrobe depending on how I feel at the time. Today I’m feeling quite quirky-chic. I’m in love with my sequin collar, embellished bow tie, crazy OTT rings and the quirky buttons on my pencil skirt – so fun!.’

Jean-Paul Brouard, senior designer

‘I’m surrounded by people who leak style out of every pore, so my colleagues and mates inspire me. I also tend to spend a fair amount of my day online, as part of my job involves research, so I pick up tips and ideas as I browse.’

Vanessa Logan, client service director (above right) and Darryn Rowe, art director and self-proclaimed Lord of Design (above left). See more of their style in ELLE’s October issue.

PS It’s true: Darryn really does work with his Ray Ban Wayfarers on!

Sara TrickettPumps

Sara Trickett, editor on online projects, says: ‘Beautiful quality fabrics, classic silhouettes, colour, pattern and detail inspire the way I dress.’ We love Sara’s pumps by Chinese Laundry, and the fact that she brings her furry friend to work.

Leighann Nott, assistant account executive – client service

‘I like to keep one season ahead of the game; in fashion this works. When something catches my eye, I can’t wait till next season for it to come into stores.’

Jenna Lee Geldenhuys, account manager

‘I wear a lot of tailored classics. You can never go wrong with a white collared shirt: it’s classic yet feminine. Style is creating a look that is unique to you!’

Samantha Lee Evans, graphic designer

’Style, to me, means confidence and the way you put stuff together. It’s not what you wear but how you wear it.’
