Fashion assistant Tarryn Oppel styled December’s Style for Less in which she shows how to give a nine-to-five outfit after-hours chic. She explains:

ELLE’s Style for Less pages feature, as the name says, clothing and accessories that are fashionable yet affordable. This time was no different, except that it was also about extending your wardrobe by making the season’s favourite daytime trends work for a night on the town too.

The easiest way to glam up daytime looks is with accessories. Add touches of shine by layering gold bracelets, grabbing a metallic clutch on your way out or slipping on a pair of glitter heels.

Because I used clothes that are somewhat casual with understated colours, they needed a pick-me-up elsewhere, which led to the big hair. It required a few hair extensions, lots of teasing and more than a handful of pins, but it stayed in place for the whole day. Although it was a daring move, I think it provides the punch I was looking for.
