Rising Star: Instagram Discovered Model Ansolet Rossouw

 

Discovered on Instagram by her agency at sixteen two years ago, fast-rising South African model, Ansolet Rossouw, is conquering the world one runway at a time.

Tell us how you got into modelling?

I got scouted on Instagram when I was 16 years old by Fanie Nel and James Emanuel from Fanjam. My family and I drove down to CT to meet the agency and after that a few months later I did my first fashion week in Milan.

What are some of your career highlights so far?

Walking for 13 major shows, meeting Karl Laggerfeld, meeting all the models that I look up to and being able to travel to NYC which has always been a dream of mine.

What do you miss the most about your former life?

Being home with my family every day, my mom’s food and endless love, my dad’s jokes. Just home in general.

Was modelling something you planned, or it just happened?

Not at all, where I’m from (Bloemfontein) there was never any opportunities. It just happened when Fanjam discovered me.

How long do you see yourself modelling for?

For as long as I am able to obviously, everyone ages differently, maybe early 30’s?

What are some of your future goals?

Personal Goals: Becoming the best version of myself, mentally and physically, being healthy in general.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face especially when you’re far from home?

Being on my own all the time, travelling on my own, staying by myself. Missing out on what’s going on at home. I just never get used to it.

What are your coping mechanisms?

When I find it hard to cope I ask God to help me and make me stronger so that I can face whatever I need to face no matter how difficult, and He helps me. Also my parents as well as my agents that constantly motivates me, without them I don’t know how I would make it.

What was the last book you read?

Mirror Mirror by Cara Delivingne.

What are you currently listening to?

My boyfriend and I have a thing for music, from early 60’s music to Afrikaans Rap, never the same.

How would you describe your style?

Boyish but still sexy.

One thing about you that people don’t know?

I have a fetish for skin products. I have over 40 skin moisturizers but only use one.

Biggest fashion mistake and why? When was this?

I don’t think I have , I like my style even though it’s not necessarily what other people will choose to wear I don’t see it as a mistake I see it as my personal style , if you know what I mean.

What’s your favourite food?

Lamb chops. I love meat.

Who are some of the other models you admire?

Candice Swanepoel and Romee Strijd.

What’s the biggest advice someone ever gave you?

My dad always tells me wherever I go “Just do the right thing and don’t give a shit about what anyone thinks about you. Be you”.
