GaTsh Fros (GaTsh is pronounced ‘gash’) is a fashion, image and lifestyle consulting and styling company based in Gaborone, Botswana. We chatted to the owners, fashion duo Tsholo Dikobe and Gaone Mothibi.

What is your business all about?

Tsholo: We are fashion, image consultants/stylists, fashion bloggers (gatshfros.blogspot.com) and fashion journalists. We inspire, innovate, advocate, and encourage life principles through fashion. As GaTsh, we get our voices out there, to inspire confidence and advocate creativity. Based on your personal qualities, we develop an original, enhanced style and lifestyle for you.

Gaone: We revamp your style, keep on top of the latest trends in haute couture and figure out ways to translate the looks into more affordable and less extreme business, casual, and social wear.

Tell us about Botswana’s fashion industry.

Tsholo: Botswana fashion used to be conservative, but we now know what’s trending and what’s in, and our local designers know what’s haute and what’s not. Botswana fashion isn’t scared anymore. It doesn’t see limitations but possibilities.

Gaone: Fashion in Botswana is alive, and given the right tools we will get to the top.

What are your big plans for 2012?

Tsholo: I know it sounds cliché, but watch this space. No really. If you don’t see anything a year from now, blame it on global warming haha. On a serious note, though, we want to launch our brand, GaTsh Fros. We want to make it in the fashion world. We want to stamp and seal the deal, to be the first ladies of GaTsh-fashion, the biggest power house of fashion.

Gaone: I second wat Tsholo said, we are here to stay. We are two hungry individuals seeking to take any opportunity in styling and fashion journalism. For 2012 we want to showcase our talent in any way possible, and in the process be an inspiration our peers.
What is your favourite runway trend at the moment?

Tsholo: The head-to-toe trend.  Eye-catching, flamboyant prints on prints, patterns on patterns, patterns on prints, florals or one colour from head to toe. I love this trend because it’s fearless. It doesn’t conform.

Gaone : Chunky heels and ’40s elegance, but watch out for this GaTsh Fro trend: COLOUR SHOCK. This is a GaTsh Fros colour-trend invention. It is wearing one colour from head to toe – and we not talking neutral, we talking about your yellow, orange, blue etc.

What are you most looking forward to wearing this winter?

Tsholo: Chunky knitwear or texture overload! I love to mix and miss deliberately: I feed off it. Fashion to me isn’t afraid.

Gaone: Fur. I want to buy just one item made of fur, a short coat or shawl. And winter capes. Winter is my favourite season; it should not limit our style, but rather expand our creativity.

If you weren’t stylists, what would you be?

Tsholo: I am a dancer at heart. If I wasn’t a stylist I’d be a god of gesture, a god of swift movement. Dancing is one of my passions. I’d be somewhere around the world touring with Janet Jackson as her choreographer, or choreographing this year’s season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Gaone: If I was not into fashion the next best thing would have been interior designing and a newfound love for cooking. I’d probably be exploring my chef skills.

What is currently on your wish list?

Tsholo: Right now, working on a fashion magazine is all I think about. Fashion is my high and I want to share it with other fashion nerds. I also wish to buy my parents a huge, gigantic house from hopefully my hard-earned cash – they deserve it. They raised me so well and I am thankful. I will make it happen one day. I promise.

Gaone: Ooh my word, where to begin! Let’s see: Doctor Martins, a white sailor hat, yellow/royal blue blazer, bow belt, different wedge and cork heels, chunky heels, futuristic clutch bags and tight leather gloves.
