Merchants On Long

We stumbled upon a familiar name on the Vogue UK blog – a post about Hanneli Rupert’s Cape Town store, Merchants on Long. The store, housed in an Art Nouveau building at 34 Long Street, will be curating a Merchants in London pop-up store at The Shop at Bluebird, Kings Road, London from 4 May to 16 June.

Merchants on Long stocks fashion, homeware, contemporary craft and functional art, all originating from Africa. In general, products are either fair trade goods or made from organic materials. The pop-up store will feature a selection of their top designers including African Silks by James Green, Babatunde, BantuWax and The Letterpress Company. Each brand, says Hanneli, who is the daughter of Richemont CEO Johann Rupert, will present a capsule offering in London.

‘Merchants on Long aims to bring together the best African brands in London. The pop-up will give Londoners a unique opportunity to see what is happening at the forefront of fashion and design in Africa at the moment.’
