Kelly Esterhuyse, the 2011 winner of the ELLE New Talent Designer Search, stole the show with her beautiful knitwear range called Ulyana, using mohair to focus the attention on this beautiful natural fibre. ‘I really wanted to show how luxurious and versatile mohair is and break the misconception that it’s a scratchy old-fashioned product,’ she says.
Kelly’s support for a natural, eco-friendly and proudly South Africa product definitely gets our vote. ‘What makes Kelly a worthy winner is that she used an untapped textile. She looked beyond the obvious,’ says Jackie Burger.
