South African film Lost in the World is set to premier in the UK on 5 November. Directed by Xolelwa ‘Ollie’ Nhlabatsi, the man who founded Blackweather Productions in 2009, the film deals with love, loss and pain.
The movie tells the story of police officer Whitney, whose long-time girlfriend is brutally raped and murdered. Whitney puts all her energy into finding the people behind the savage attack but sadly in the process loses her mind. The cast includes some of South African television’s most well-known names, including Honey Makwakwa, Lesley Nkosi, Nqobile Khumalo, Nkosinathi Nkosi, Oros Mampofu, Patrick Charlie Mashapa and Pusetso Thibedi.
Nhlabatsi, a former Witwatersrand University graduate from Joburg, debuted the film locally in July, at the Independent Mzansi Short Film Festival, and its first global reveal was at the Thessaloniki International LGBTI-Q Film Festival in September.
With an impressive cast and a gripping storyline, the film is set for its UK debut at the Royal Africa’s Society’s Annual Film Festival on 5 November. In addition it has been nominated for the Baobab Awards for Best Short Film.
