If you’ve missed ELLE’s Jenna McArthur and Trevor Stuurman’s tweets, Facebook and Instagram uploads – you wouldn’t know that the duo are at London Fashion week and loving every minute of it! With days one and two under their belts they dish on their highlights here:
‘London Fashion Week thus far has been absolutely amazing. We get to the shows’ venues at least an hour before the show is scheduled to start so Style Reporter in association with BlackBerry Trevor Stuurman can snap away (look out for his London Streetstyle post here next week). So far, we’ve spotted fashion journo Suzy Menkes, model Jodie Kidd, said hi to Henry Holland, Rosie and Proudlock from the reality show Made In Chelsea (Online ed Jenna was starstruck to put it lightly), and watched fashion’s finest flocking into the front row. London Fashion Week’s autumn/winter 2013 show season opened at Somerset House on Friday and along with the amazing collections we’ve seen, we’ve been equally wowed by the fashion on the streets to that on the catwalks. While running from show to show, we had to bring you our LFW highlights so far!’

RIHANNA FOR RIVER ISLAND
On Saturday night we attended the much anticipated Rihanna for River Island show. The hype around this show has been huge, was it the star of London Fashion week? The pop star certainly has striking style but we wouldn’t go as far to say her collection was THE star. Her London Fashion Week debut was more like a party than a show and was held in the post office in New Oxford Street. The show had amazing energy, the right people and the right music (bass heavy tracks of, course) with models Cara Delivigne and Jourdan Dunn dancing front row. The ramp – well, there wasn’t one – it was a multilevel platform of stacked boxes. The collection was Rihanna through and through – baseball caps, cropped tee’s, sheer maxi dresses, jumpsuits, denim bra tops and dungarees.
HOUSE OF HOLLAND
Mr Hollands collection gets our vote – think an explosion of colour and of energy from his collection titled ‘Nana Rave.’ Trust Henry Holland to merge young, street and fun with ladylike. We saw pops of neon, crystal embellishment and cycerdellic pattern and print. The collection was very rave, patterned suits, glitter – eighties on acid come. We loved the show, the energy and the vibrant collection.
Moschino Cheap and Chic
On day two of LFW we got the message with the Moschino show – punk it is. Well chic punk from creative director Rossella Jardini and designer Francesca Rubino. Black lips, heaving shoes and graffiti mini dresses with a side serve of attitude was what we saw – but this punk is a little refined, sophisticated and chic. The collection was a palette of black and white as well as animal print. The commercialised punk wore hot candy pink suits – bubblegum and candy was what she opted for in suits, mini puffed hem dresses and skirts. We have to say – we loved the graffiti print, what do you think?
Somewhere before the Rihanna for River Island show and after the House of Holland shows we watched the Issa aw 2013 collection. It’s Kate Middleton’s favourite, darling, and definitely one of ours so far! Model Yes, model of the moment Cara Delevigne opened the show and her return to the Issa ramp was a highlight but the collection itself was Navajo Indian-inspired and easy wearing. We saw wide-legged trousers, floating maxi-dresses and kaftans in printed fabrics with rich texture. Love, love, love!
