SA first fell in love with Kyle Deutsch when he was a finalist on SA Idols, fast forward a few years and the charming musician has made a name for himself beyond the singing competition.
We all remember how his hit with Shekhinah ‘Back to the Beach’ basically owned the summer of 2015, well Mr Deutsch has been on a roll since then. The latest addition to his list of hits is the sexy ‘Can’t get enough’, a track which inspired our recent fashion collabo with the crooner, featured in the Jan/Feb issue of ELLE, currently in stores.
Kyle is set to release the video for the remix for the hit at an exclusive event hosted by Spree Man featuring Sheen Skaiz, Bigstar Johnson, Tellaman and Deemo. You can get tickets to the screening here. You’ve got move quick though as at the time of publication there were only about 25 tickets left. We caught up with Kyle to get the scoop on his exercise routine, the future of the SA music industry and what he thinks makes a hit single.
- About your Idols journey, how that experience propel your music career?
I made it through to the top five of Idols and it definitely got my name out there. But you never know where life would have taken you. I may not have been sitting here with these exact people at this exact time had it not been for my Idols experience. I may not have been making music with Shekhinah at that exact time. But I would definitely still be making music.
- How do you feel about the future of the South African music industry?
I’m very excited about it. We have some incredible producers in the industry and some young talent coming through too.
- What makes a hit single?
It needs to have the full package- a catchy beat, lyrics that people understand and can sing along to, and it needs to be delivered by the right person.
- What does ‘Take It Back To The Beach’ mean to you?
As a child, my parents used to take me to the beach and it was always a fun experience for the family. As an older boy, my friends and I used to spend entire days at the beach with friends just surfing. Longing for those memories, taking it back to the beach.
- What’s your morning routine?
I check my emails and then I go and have a look for what I have in the fridge
- Your everyday essential?
My cell phone
- Go-to exercise routine
A run on the beach and some beach soccer
