It looks like the time of the turban is past. The new must-have fashion accessory for 2012 is the headscarf. It’s about choosing the size, colour and print you want, and tying and wrapping it any way you like. There is no formula to it; no right or wrong. It’s all about experimenting and expressing yourself.

Icons like Bianca Jagger, Mme Gres, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot have all sported headscarves at various times in their careers. Now, as we saw on the spring/summer 2012 runways, the headscarf is being embraced as part of the modern, urban woman’s wardrobe.
