Ichyulu’s new campaign is a modern celebration of vintage photography.

In our September issue we interview Cynthia Mbaru, founder of Kenyan-based online concept store, Ichyulu, about her collaboration with Kenyan brother –and-sister bloggers, Velma Rossa and Oliver Asike on a photo series showcasing Nairobi’s street style scene as well as some of the African designer fashion available from Ichyulu. Ichyulu has now launched their new season campaign which draws inspiration from vintage portrait photography, but with a thoroughly modern  and colourful twist. Besides being drop dead gorgeous, the campaign also introduces new fashion brands to the site including AAKS (Ghana), I AM I (Kenya), Maisha Concept (Kenya/Hong Kong), Pop Caven (Nigeria/US), Kepha Maina (Kenya), Bush Princess (Kenya) and ZikoAfrika (Kenya) as well as new pieces from Bestow Elan (Ghana/UK), Nkwo (Nigeria), and Gloria Wavamunno (Uganda).

Cynthia is a long-time supporter of African fashion and Africa-based designers and through Ichyulu, which she launched in January this year, she seeks to provide a curated experience of African fashion from across the continent, all the way from Nigeria to South Africa and as much as possible in-between and beyond.
