Women We Love In our August issue of ELLE we asked women we love to tell us who were the last three women they loved. Here are a few – and then turn to page 48 of ELLE for more!

Loretta de Goede, ELLE art director

1. My neighbour and friend, Eunice, who overcame multiple setbacks to find the community organisation, sisters4sisters.org.za, which supports abused women.

2. My aunty Joan. She’s my second mom and the kindest and most loving person I have ever met.

3. My two younger sisters, Stephanie and Karla. They never fail to make me laugh and share my passion for M.A.C.

Cheska Liackman, ELLE Bureau Chief and Features Writer

1. Victoria Beckham. She is a modern-day superwoman.

2. Elsje Stark, my future mother-in-law. I think I got lucky with this one! Apart from being an amazing businesswoman with great style, she is caring, loving and fun to hang out with.

3. Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, the women behind Who What Wear, one of my favourite online fashion destinations. They have nailed what a fashion website should be.

Jackie Burger, ELLE editor

1. The late Sue Ferrier (ELLE South Africa’s first fashion director) for her elegance and effortless style.

2. Simone du Beauvoir for her famous line:  ‘One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.’

3. Poet Ingrid Jonker for writing The Child is not Dead.

Michelle Oberholzer, blogger and freelance writer and photographer

1. Vivian Maier, a street photographer who worked in the US from the ’50s to ’90s. She was a nanny for most of her life and did photography in her spare time. Over
100 000 negatives of her beautiful photographs were discovered shortly before her death.

2. Vivienne Westwood for her innovative, unique sense of style and her determination to be the best at what she does.

3. English rock musician PJ Harvey for constantly reinventing her sound and her style.

1. Ninety-year-old style icon Iris Apfel. Her self-confident authenticity reminds me of my grandmother. It’s an age thing, I think; you get to an age where you just don’t care what anyone thinks.

2. Barbara Hulanicki for her genius retail vision back in the ’60s when she launched Biba. It must have been such a pumping place to be, with Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithful hanging out on a sofa in the boutique or on the rooftop with the kitsch plastic flamingoes.

3. Queen Elizabeth for her amazing endurance. She’s 86 and can work a room better than any woman I know.

siphilile on 7/30/2012: 1. My mom, she's like a modern-day superwoman. Looking at her photo's she was very fashionable. We were just shopping this past weekend and she commented on the styles that are being revived from back in the day. 2. My sister, she's got such a warm heart, a real softie and she's not afraid of taking risks. She's recently changed her hairstyle to a modern day 'perm' and its great. 3. My collegue, Lindsey, she's just told us today that she's resigning to relocate overseas. She's very stylish always dressed in killer heels and dressed to the T. She pulls her outfits together with a friendly, lively personality.
