ELLE BOSS 2015 WINNER STACEY BREWER ON WINNING THE AWARD

Stacey Brewer, winner of the ELLE Boss Award for 2015 tells us what the award meant to her.

She is the social entrepreneur behind SPARK, a network of primary schools dedicated to delivering accessible high quality education. SPARK opened it’s first school in 2013; since then several more have been opened. The success of SPARK schools earned her the ELLE Boss Award for 2015, as well as the main prize of a trip to France, where she was hosted by Veuve Clicquot, and in the company of our Editor-in-Chief, Emilie Gambade.

In her own words, Stacey tell us what the award has meant to her: “Winning the ELLE Boss 2015 has been one of the highlights of my professional career. I would have never thought of associating the brands of ELLE and Veuve Clicquot with an education brand. This truly made me realise the impact that SPARK is having not only in the education sector but the greater South African community. The process of applying for the award, through to winning and celebrating it, allowed me to reflect on what SPARK and I have achieved to date. Often we are so busy down in the trenches that we hardly ever take time to celebrate and appreciate what we have achieved.  This involvement gave me an opportunity to stop, think and be grateful for the committed team we have at SPARK, and how we need to constantly remember the bigger picture and the responsibility we have in making South Africa better. Madame Clicquot was a bold and courageous woman; she played a key role in creating the champagne industry that we know today.  This is an inspiration to all women that if you want to see a change and believe in something strongly enough, you are able to create change that lasts generation after generation. The ELLE Boss winner is someone like Madame Clicquot, someone who believes so much in her cause and herself that nothing or no one will stop or slow her down. Thank you to ELLE and Veuve Clicquot for an award such as this as it allows the success of women to be recognized, celebrated and encouraged. Be bold, be audacious, Be you!”
