ELLE fashion director Poppy Evans answers Lally Govender’s question about shopping for size 42 jeans.

Lally Govender wrote: ‘I’m a size 42 for jeans. Where can I buy trendy jeans that go up to size 42? I love the styles and fabric of Zara jeans but their biggest size don’t fit me. Woolworths Re Jeans go up to size 42 but they are too low on the waist. I live in Durban, so we don’t have the bigger selection of trendy stores that JHB and CT have. There are stores that stock clothing for curvier woman but they are definitely not trendy.

Hi Lally

Finding jeans in the right shape and size is not easy for anyone, whatever their shape or size. That said, I also struggle to find jeans that are not too tight. Personally, I shop for mine at Country Road, and find they sometimes even come up a bit too high. I love the stretch fabrics and contemporary cuts, as well as their dark blue dyes – they’re extremely flattering.

Happy shopping!
