kgothatso on 9/17/2012: Style for less to me means- Investing classic basics but still throwing in some bargain trendy pieces to to still be stylish. Its about following your own fashion
Sue Reynard on 9/17/2012: Style for Less requires taking a good, hard look at your wardrobe, accessories and beauty products now, reworking and remixing what you can, and setting aside an affordable budget and sticking to it for clever and versatile on trend items. It starts with ideas and those are to be found in top style mags like Elle!
Ndumy on 9/17/2012: Style for less to me means vintage shops, end of season sales and bargain buying. With everyone trying to save a little more in these tough times a girl still has to look good, for that dinner date or a girls night out with her friends. All this comes at 'cost' style less means shopping smart and end up looking like a million dollar babe. It's all about playing around with your clothes. Accessories play a huge role here mix and match and look fab without denting that bank balance.
Sinalo Mkaza on 9/17/2012: Style for less to me is the ability to bargain hunt in the radest spots in downtown and mixing these items with investment timeless pieces.
Charmaine Plaatjie on 9/17/2012: Style for less for me means having an eye for good items despite of the price tag. It's about learning and knowing how to mix classic pieces with thrifty, far less expensive ones.
Phindile on 9/17/2012: Style for less has taken a new meaning in my life recently. Having just started working as a consultant and international speaker where in most cases I am the youngest person at conferences, and having lost some weight, I have really had to think about my image and who I am as an individual. Whilst I work in HIV/AIDS and social development, I didn't want to lose myself as a 23 year old doing pretty "grown up" things like jetting off all over the world every other day with Ministers and policy makers. I was adamant not to look too old and staying true to myself. So one weekend I spent my time trying every piece of clothing on, flipping through my magazines and getting a sense for what I love and what will work for my schedule and body (i still have some dangerous curves which i adore). With so many options I was afraid I would get lost in it all and so it was really about answering questions about myself so I don't end up with the most recent trend that isn't really me, or too old. Now I find myself in gorgeous markets in Ethiopia where there are tons of things to buy for a good price to Macy's in California and I am able to walk out empty handed because I didn't find anything that was ME. And that's what true style for less is, staying true to yourself and not succumbing to what others or even the fashion world thinks you should wear. Because once you know what you like, you'll spend on pieces that you'll wear for ever and cut down on things that just aren't you, after all quality is better than quantity. NOW THAT'S SOME STYLE FOR LESS....
Charmaine on 9/17/2012: Style for less for me means, having an eye for good items despite of the price tag. It's about learning &knowing how to mix classic pieces with thrifty, far less expensive ones. It's about not being brand conscious but more style conscious.

Boitumelo on 9/17/2012: It means that as a Trendsetter I can get the latest styles of clothing, shoes, accessories and more…for less! It's about looking fabulous without spending a fortune.Creativity and affordability by personalising trends.
zandi on 9/18/2012: Style for less is the excitement you feel when heading to your favourite local vintage store. The jolt of euphoria when you go through the countless racks of clothes and are rewarded with a R60 sky-blue Clive Rundle jacket. Wearing that jacket and to all the compliments you smile and say "its vintage". Giving people directions to that little store. Style for Less is people having to pick up their jaws from the floor after you tell them the price of your jacket. As a varsity student, style for less is a lifestyle. Its challenging but worth it!
Boitumelo on 9/18/2012: It means that as a trendsetter,I can buy the latest styles clothing, shoes, accessories and more for less.Looking fabulous without spending a fortune, all about creativity and affordability. This comes with picking the unique items and personalising them to look exclusive.
Zama Zungu on 9/18/2012: Style for less means being able to express your sense of self under any circumstance - financial or otherwise.
Lungelo on 9/18/2012: Style for less means the ability to utelise and manipulate fashion into what you want it to be for you withought being limited by financial barriers or any other barriers for that matter. A thought that comes to mind is the new trend of arranging a tea party with your girls and their friends and their friends friends and bringing two clean, hot fashion items that you still love btw :-) and swapping them at the tea party..every one is satisfied and styled for close to nothing
Thandy on 9/18/2012: Is the breakfast coming to Durban again?
mariza on 9/18/2012: Style for less...looking stylish no matter what you wear or were you bought it. It doesn't matter how much it costs,if you wear you R10 thrift store shorts and wear it with confidence you will look like a million dollars.
Phola Tyholo on 9/18/2012: To me style for less means "keeping it simple yet classy"
BIANCA ESTELLE JAMES on 9/18/2012: What "Style for Less" means to me is learning to invest in your personal style – Having a good eye for what best suits your body type as well as your budget – It means learning to move away from the impulsive buys and capitalizing in trendy statement/key pieces and classics that will go well with the less expensive additions…Its about taking control of your closet and your cash.
Ntombi Mtshali on 9/18/2012: To me, Style for Less means being able to look stylish and trendy at a very low cost.
Ntombi Mtshali on 9/18/2012: To me,Style for Less means being able to put together a stylish and trendy look at a very low cost.
Ntombi Mtshali on 9/18/2012: To me, Style for Less means being able to put together a Stylish and Trendy look at a very low cost
Saskia Band on 9/18/2012: Style for less to me is the gift to transform budgeted fashion into style and being able to make a cheaper outfit look expensive, by using both staple pieces in your closet as well as this seasons it accessories. Style for less takes a love for fashion to know what is necessary to spend your money on, taking advice and using it. x
lebo on 9/18/2012: style for less means effortless elegance, you dont try too much with your clothes cause true style does not require proof and sunglasses, sunglasses, sunglasses please
nokuthula Kgasi on 9/18/2012: Style for less: Means comfort and making a statement without breaking the bank.
nerina delportd on 9/18/2012: Booking for two people
Pamela Brothers on 9/18/2012: Style for less means real sophistication. Yes less is more
Owethu on 9/19/2012: Style for less means knowing what your body type is and learning which stores go for your figure. Buying cheap quality and clothing is not interpreting style for less. Vintage stores, second hand stores are style for less. Knowing you buying quality and the right proportioned garments for you means that you will go for a year or two with one item rather than buying cheap quality 4/5 times within 2 years. Pairing an expensive item with a much cheaper but has quality item, no one will ever know the difference. Fashion always revolves and eras always come back. I always buy a suitcase every year to put the most essential items of a season, knowing 99% that in a couple of years, the clothes I'm putting aside will come back into trend. Now that Style for Less.
Noms on 9/19/2012: Black and white. Hand-me-downs, pre-loved essentials and that one dress a mother keeps in her kist for a daughter she's not even sure she'll ever meet. It's a tweed suit jacket left by a father to his eldest daughter. It's digging through mounds of clothes for that one gem. It's just a spritz of expensive perfume received as a gift from a loved one. It's borrowed and shared. You know what they say about sharing.
gladys on 9/19/2012: style for less is about be well dressed, considering the details that make you be different from others, even wearing cheap clothes.... fashion is all about creativity... thanks
Lehlogonolo Molepo on 9/19/2012: Style for less means a two things: 1. The saying that less is more is true, meaning I do not have to wear every thing i own at once just to look stylish. Simplicity with a twist-my style definition. 2. I do not have to buy things that are too expensive or that are out of my budget just to look good or stylish. There are well priced items that are very stylish and cost next to nothing.
Charlene on 9/19/2012: Style for less is knowing all season sale and shopping online for less.
Olebogeng on 9/19/2012: 'Style for less' means to me, using your (fashion) items to create a personal look...own style. Less 'fashion-focussed' look, but more of an individual style. Less 'trend following', but major personal style influence. Less of 'blending in', but more of style-statement-distinction. So, u style for less of popular fashion, but more of personal style.
kash on 9/19/2012: This is not an entry. Can you please tell me when Durban will play host to such a lovely event? I want an early bird chance to get a seat!
Mpho Tsholo on 9/19/2012: It means something elegant, simplicity, effortlessly cool and restrained.
Jacqui Barnes on 9/19/2012: emphasizing your natural grace and letting your personality take centre stage, regardless of whether you're wearing your couture best or your favorite old jeans
Lwazi Nkosi on 9/19/2012: "Style for less" for me firstly is simply finding a gorgeous, attractive, time piece..for less. Quality is essential! What’s the point in finding a good looking piece that will only last your 24hrs… For me style for less isn’t about wearing something that looks expensive, but isn’t. I hate, ok maybe hate is a strong word; I dislike how people decide to make an exact replica of an expensive outfit, pick these cheaper pieces of clothing then decide, its style for less. I differ! Corner clothing stores, unpopular boutiques, young struggling designers/design wear, clothe-swopping, flee markets, my mom’s closet…those are places where I find my STYLE FOR LESS! :)
Gugulethu Leeto on 9/20/2012: Well for me it's simple, like Micheal Kors said:' if you're going to buy one item of clothing buy a dress because then you have an entire outfit...' Same rule applies with what. you can afford, if you can't afford to buy too many things throw on a nice frock, killer shoes and a simple accesory it's spring nature and the weather take care of the scenery the need to over do it is absolutely out. :)
Nomfundo Dlamini on 9/21/2012: To me it simply means rocking your personal style without breaking your budget. These are tough times we live in, we can't all go on strike (hunger or any other sort) just to get that high-end shoe.
Nikiwe Ndabeni on 9/21/2012: Style for less to me means going through my moms old suitcases and get all her vintage clothes, combine them with nice pair of shoes and accessories. Its not about the price but about what you come up with and the way it looks on you.
Malibongwe on 9/21/2012: Style for less means that style is something that cannot be bought. Its something you grow into and refine, it is not clothes that break the bank. I am definitely stylish for less!
Nicci Roussos on 9/24/2012: A few well chosen pieces which extend and update my existing wardrobe, allowing me versatility in my mood and in their application and giving me an edginess and individuality without breaking the bank
Irina Doman on 9/24/2012: My whole style motto is *Style for less*. I have recently even started my own fashion blog about it. You see I'm a student, and rely totally on my parents support. I use to just go to regular shops and get things at a regular price until I started discovering some gems in Joburg. Steve Madden shoes for R400?Done!Guess handbag for R300?Ill throw that in! Vintage dress from a market for R20?Yes please! So now I'm trying to get the information to everyone else out there as well. Style for Less does not mean you only have to shops the sales. To me it means getting those designer brands at a lower costs, embracing the vintage boutiques and getting the all time fav fashion pieces(LBD, a pair of great heels, or some great skinnys) at sales! And I would love to go to this event and find out bout the latest trends and how to make them work :)
Glenda Van Wyk on 9/25/2012: Style for less means checking in with your feelings and emotions and going into your wardrobe to uplift a dark mood or to be feel young again by mixing what you have and using a few in trends items to create your own look
Ntsetsa Maake on 9/25/2012: Style for less to me means- less Value, simplicity, subtlety and detail at a low cost...I don't believe in trends but Style :-)
Samantha Laura Kaye on 9/25/2012: "Style for less" - in my mind - refers to the art of portraying a fashion story or balancing a look without relying on designer labels and expensive items. Style for less is about knowing when to splurge and when to save, which items are timeless and which are a quickly digested style fad. Above all it's about retaining power to style and express yourself without did empowering yourself by spending beyond your means.
Dominique on 9/25/2012: Style for less, in today's economy and in our country's Economy means to us all, saving whilst buying what one can afford to indulge in, such as the latest Elle, or being granted the honor and privilege to attend the lavish breakfast that Elle is hosting. #recessionista.
Eunice diver on 9/25/2012: Style for less means to create stylish outfits with a few items of clothing at a reasonal price .
Nompumelelo Mdluli on 9/25/2012: "Style For Less" - means recreating looks I see in my Elle magazine. As a full-time student, this is my daily bread. I can't always afford the expensive trends but keeping up with Elle Mag, I know exactly what styles to look out for when bargain hunting. Once in a while I can splurge on a key item that I know will last a lifetime (such as a white button down shirt) and I fill in the gaps with pieces that cost less. This always works for me!
Nokubonga Thusi on 9/25/2012: Style for less, to me, means working with what you've got. This is where TRUE style shines. Its not the wealth of the price tag but the wealth of the fashion experience. When people see you, they should be amazed and wonder "now why didn't I think of that?". Taking normal fashion items and switching it up. Updating trends and pieces with accessories or colours. After all, "style for less" is in the details and knowing when to refine and "sleek it up".
Nokubonga Thusi on 9/25/2012: Style for Less.
Phemelo Monare on 9/25/2012: Getting that awesome item of clothing no matter what shop, if it fits your personality, proves to be super comfortable, gives you that GAGA love face and best of all doesn't hurt your buget at all (that's for some of us who shop with a buget of R1000)...Than that Elle team is when you style for less.
Didi Sehume on 9/25/2012: If I can do it effortlessly it means I am comfortable, got a knack for it. If I can do it without too much thought and it all falls into place naturally, then the likelihood is that I'm enjoying myself. Dressed to the 9's, in the freshest and trendiest kit or just kicking it. I am forever styling. My style is my own. I do style best when I think less an just be! Loving being meeeeeeee!!!
Carina de Lange on 9/26/2012: "Style for less" means that you don't need to have the biggest wardrobe or budget to always look stylish, fashionable, indivdualistic, trendy and perfectly dressed for any occation! It does not mean cheap, it does mean clever!
Annette on 9/27/2012: STYLE FOR LESS: You can't buy style. You need to be a confident and powerful woman without hiding behind the labels. It's about mixing&matching affordable with luxurious statement pieces. Kate Middleton is my style-for-less muse.
Zandile on 9/27/2012: Its that moment of enlightment when you realise that making a worthy fashion statement demands more from your imagination, creativity and passion for cultural expression than from your designer purse. It is the liberating feeling of knowing you can squeeze oozes of inspiration from limited material resources. And it is such pure joy when you fill your shopping bag with ecclectic treasures that attest to your resourceful ways.
Hayley Orviz on 9/28/2012: Style to me is a culture of present and past, a fusion of fashion. My grandmother used to say "there is nothing more stylish than a classical item". I mix & match with both classic and present trends. It’s like a beautiful poem that enhances individuality. The 80's are being revived again in certain items & those neon colours are vivid & trendy. Not one person’s style is the same, in essence Individuality!
Hayley Orviz on 9/28/2012: Style for less means to me a culture of present and past, a fusion of fashion. My grandmother used to say "there is nothing more stylish than a classical item". I mix & match with both classic and present trends. You only need one or two trendy items per month with your classical items. It’s like a beautiful poem that enhances individuality. The 80's are being revived again in certain items & those neon colours are vivid & trendy. Not one person’s style is the same, in essence Individuality.
Michelle Diniz on 9/28/2012: In the world where petrol is going up unfortunately, but my salary isn't. It's good to know that one can still be stylish and doesn't mean we have to spend an exhuburant amount. Being stylish portrays us as women, as well grounded, strong and confident! So let's give a hearty cheer to being woman and stylish for less at that!
Zama Hlongwane on 9/29/2012: Style for less for me is about following your own truth, not being a slave to fashion by following every trend that's hot at the moment. Thrift and mix which always look uber hot, because some items are best sourced from the past.High waist pants and skirts, classic gold neck pieces and the essential yet timeless blazer. To sum it up you need to look like a Million bucks by only spending a hundred.
Nothile Khumalo on 9/30/2012: Style for less to me means looking like a million bucks without overspending yet still remain confident, stylish and chic
Paballo on 9/30/2012: Style for less means being able to dress very well and looking like you've spent a million bucks when in actual fact you've hadly spent much. You might be wearing something old, something borrowed or just something classic that just happend to be cheap. Good style is not how much you spend but how well you wear it
Fortunate Mdanda on 10/1/2012: Style for less makes me think of Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton)rocking a Zara dress and looking a million dollars and very fashionable and classy. Not just throwing money at awful fashion items just because you can...it means having a good eye for great fashion items that are reasonably priced.
Boipelo Tlhabanelo on 10/1/2012: Style for less is being able to pull off a fabulous outfit for a really affordable price. Its having that eye for fashion or the skill that not everyone has, that enables you to spot items you can get for cheap and put together a stylish outfit that does not even scream cheap. Ussually the people that are able to pull a style for less are the trend setters, people that rock items, put together outfits which then menifest into a trend then designers use it as inspiration to rull wild with their creative juices for the industry.
Ayanda Magubane on 10/1/2012: Don’t we all want to look our best? Style for less is about the creativity that goes into achieving one's unique style, for example, mixing vintage and on-trend pieces without breaking the bank account. So, spending less is an even greater incentive to looking and feeling as fashionable and stylish as one wants to be. Besides, why must one spend a fortune to look elegant when it can be achieved by being creative, daring, and true to oneself? Being stylish should not mean compromising important things like savings and worthy causes?
Sharon on 10/1/2012: As a stay-at-home mom of 2 boys, Style For Less is spending wisely at end of season sales, bargain rails and Rags and Laces in Joburg. It means excitement for the first big clothes swapping event in South Africa. All this means I can be a yummy mummy without guilt of spending thousands on retail therapy and oh how i love retail therapy!
Zaakira Moola on 10/2/2012: Style for less means making the most of your individuality! Invest in timeless pieces and skills. Buying fabric, ribbons, buttons and other bits and pieces and using them to update existing pieces will help you to be stylish, on-trend and also stand out in a crowd!
Linda Adams on 10/3/2012: ... is wisdom, discretion, knowing your SELF in this season of your life. Good quality, good design, good fit. In essence, your OWN Grace uniquely and stylishly portrayed. Real style where less can say a lot more.
Anita on 10/3/2012: For me Style for Less is about finding unique and unparalleled pieces for extreme bargain prices. As a thrift store junkie, I love finding a gorgeous piece for an astonishingly low price and knowing that no matter where I go, I'm virtually guaranteed to be the only one wearing it. I also adore the looks on people's faces when they hear I bought some beautiful vintage jacket/cardigan/skirt/blouse for under R50.
janis de freitas on 10/4/2012: Style for less for me means what suits me and comfort with less is more the effect I go for love soft flower floral skirts with crip whit shirts and beautiful pumps and signature bag LV Chanel Dior DG
Corné du Plessis on 10/4/2012: "Style for less " is a personal attitude which is seen in the way you behave, the way you perceive yourself and others. You can not pay for it; it is a journey. A journey I am passionate to live! I agree with Coco Chanel's words:" Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity".
Shireen on 10/4/2012: Sustainability. Individuality. Creativity. Style For Less means style with consciousness and finding ways that work, for me, for the long-term.
Michelle Kemp on 10/4/2012: Style for Less means timeless well-tailored pieces and updating them each season with bold, dynamic and current accessories. It's finding inspiration and magic in the everyday. The spring in my step and the smile that appears when I get a compliment on something you know you got at a bargain. It's vintage, trying new things and making shopping an adventure by exploring new shopping possibilities. Essentially it's about remembering that you don't wear style, you are style, no matter the price tag.
Shireen Singer on 10/4/2012: Sustainability. Individuality. Creativity. Style For Less means style with consciousness - finding ways that work, for me, for the long-term.
Leanca Louw on 10/4/2012: Style for less means the way you carry the clothes you have on- you don't have to wear a lot of fashionalbe items- your personality and well groomed lady always looks beautiful!! Confidence in what you are wearing also helps to give an extra sparkle!! *
Boitumelo on 10/4/2012: Style for less is buying items at a low price & the contributing factor is what you do with the items to pull an elegant, fashionable look.
Tariro Chinaka on 10/4/2012: Style for less means so much to a student like myself. Its being able to look like a million bucks for a fraction of a million. Its realising that I'd rather have classic, no-name pieces than knock-offs which speak loudly that they are just that, knock-offs. Its realising just how stylish I can be while living within my means :)
Tshegofatso L on 10/4/2012: If you ask me, style for less simply means looking like you just walked out of a fashion shoot for Elle Magazine and not having to go bankrupt for it! It means not only keeping up with the trends but also encorporating who u are in the items that u wear! Being a full time student at a fashion forward University means bargin hunting bargin hunting and more bargin hunting!! So I have embodied the term "style for less". Its about having a good eye for timeless pieces and understanding yourself as well as your body type. For me the best place to look for style for less is my grandmothers closet!! Not only do I get style for less I also get items with sentimental value! Its about valuable items that don't leave your pockets empty :)
Yael Ester Raff on 10/4/2012: "Style for Less" means taking the often extravagant, sometimes over-the-top, looks from the catwalk and fashion magazines and reinterpreting them for a more pared-down, real-life look suited to each individual. This look also includes being chic, sophisticated and trendy while still keeping within one's budget.

Jaqueline Khosa on 10/5/2012: For 7 years of my life Elle magazine has been 'bringing it home'. It is bringing reality to a dream. It means to me applying economics to happiness. When you look good is when you feel good. By taking what I see trending on the runway and turning it my everday walk to campus, church, the mall without hurting my pockets, i am embracing Style For Less!!
zelda on 10/6/2012: Looking at what you've got in you're wardrobe, paging through the ELLE seeing what the new trends are and seeking carefully around the Shops to not just buy impulsively but to get something that's on trend but classical that one would be able to wear and use for the specific trend season. You're enhancing your current current wardrobe - ITS HAVING STYLE WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK BALANCE!
