Cleo scooped the title as 2011 winner of the ELLE New Talent Designer Search and ever since we can’t get enough of his designs. Mr Price gave us the heads up on yet another collaboration with Cleo and this time it’s a limited edition range for Project! This is the second ladies range he has designed for Mr Price and the (wait for it) FIRST men’s range for them and we are super excited about it! So Mr Price is doing what they do best, nurturing and promoting emerging fashion talent in our country and Cleo is doing what he does best… creating amazing pieces that are on-trend, unique and very, very, cool.

What we love?
Cleo’s inspiration for this range was inspired by youth culture, bright colours and amazing fabric bought in Paris – this translates into every piece. This season is all about the peplum! We are also obsessed with the peplum skirt and dresses, ‘yes, they are coming home with me’ (says online editor Jenna McArthur as she adds to her basket).

‘I love every piece of the range, but I do really love the printed peplum dress. I think it is a definite staple for summer!’

Senior fashion editor, Poppy Evans says: I am absolutely in love with this collection; it’s commercial but directional at the same time. It is very current in it’s mixing of metallics and neons and the shapes are a good balance of contemporary and classic. It pretty much ticks all the boxes. I’m obsessed with printed pants. What do you love the most about being a designer?
That I get to live my work. For me, work is never a career that starts at 8 and ends at 5… it’s a lifestyle and a way of being. I am passionate about what I do because it’s an extension of who I am, and that’s the most important thing.

Who is your fashion icon local or international, and why?
I find that ‘icon’ is such a big word, so I try not to use it too loosely. I would say people that inspire me immensely are people like Nicholas Ghesquiere, Cristobal Balenciaga and Christian Dior.

Describe your style in three words?
Simple, spirited, polished.

What are you listening to on your iPod at the moment?
Nicolas Jaar, Evan Voytas, Chrome Sparks, Work Drugs, Emilie Sande, Frank Ocean, Little Dragon, Joni Mitchell, and a lot of Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.

What is your motto/quote that you live by?
I don’t have one. I live as I feel. I try not to restrict myself in anyway, and live spontaneously and somewhat care-free. I don’t take life too seriously at all.

What are your hobbies or passions outside of the fashion world?
I love researching interesting things… ancient history especially. I’m a YouTube nut and I love the theatre.

Do you have a secret guilty pleasure?
Pink energy bars… for real!
