Looking for a little something to add colour to your home or office space? ELLE’s online intern Unathi Mbele recently came across Blankspace, a tiny store just down the road from ELLE’s HQ’s in Roeland Street, located in the heart of Cape Town’s Design and Innovation District, ‘The Fringe’. Being an ELLE Belle, Unathi couldn’t resist stopping by and here she dishes on what she found.

‘This is no ordinary store. It’s tiny but is stocked with limited-edition cards, stationery and beautiful collectables to add to your living/work space.

These unique pieces make Blankspace the perfect spot to shop for a unique gift to give that special someone or even just to spoil yourself.

I absolutely love the watercolour self-portraits, which are done on 100% cotton paper by artist and owner Charlene Walton. Another one of my favourites has to be the lipstick-stained teacups.

Charlene describes her store as “old-school”. Out of her love for stationery, she opened her own range of gift cards, gift tags and postcards, all letterpress-printed in black on recycled paper.

Make sure you get to Blankspace before Christmas as they have lovely hand-printed giftwrapping too.’
