BEAUTY BANTER: ZOOEY’S TUXEDO NAILS

We love the cute little bow-ties on Zooey Deschanel’s nails, which she wore to the Golden Globes! She Twitpic’ed a photo on the night – and since seeing them we’ve wanted to recreate them. WE came by these fabulous step-by-step instructions from the clever beauty gals over at http://beaut.ie blog…

1. Paint nails white. You’ll likely need two to three coats for even coverage.

2. Use a black polish to create thick reverse French tips along the free edge.

3. Add three vertical black dots/dress buttons down the centre of each nail. I just used the nib of a ballpoint pen as a makeshift dotting tool.

4. Use the edge of the black nail polish brush (or indeed a toothpick) to create an elongated ‘x’ at the base of the nail, and fill in with black polish. Voila – a bow tie.

5. Finish with a fast-dry top coat that will minimise drag.
