This week, luxury online retailer mytheresa.com will launch an exclusive capsule collection with Italian fashion house Prada, for the second time. The campaign features the collection through an exclusive video created with music artist ‘Abra’.
For this special collaboration of twenty exclusive pieces, Prada takes inspiration from its archives, presenting a modern rework of the attention-grabbing flame sandals from its memorable Spring/ Summer 2012 show and iconic patterns such as the banana print and folkloric mermaids combined with vibrant green and red flames. Referencing its Fall/Winter 2018 menswear collection, the capsule embodies a streetwear direction and feel; two eye-catching hoodies are complemented by five dresses in different shapes and colours, three tops and two cashmere jumpers. Two bags accented with the iconic archive print, a red bucket hat and three shoe styles finalize the exclusive selection.
To bring the iconic prints to life, the exclusive capsule is translated through moving image with Atlanta- based R&B artist ‘Abra’, who was chosen by Prada and mytheresa.com for her alternative artistic identity. The video plays to her track ‘Fruit’, which was first released within her debut album ‘Rose’ in 2017; a melodic expression about the fascination of forbidden attraction and giving into temptation. The video compliments these themes by highlighting movements, style and expression. The composition of the neon lights in combination with the setting of an abandoned warehouse, perfectly captures the feel of Prada’s exclusive collection.
