Last week was the ELLE New Talent Fresh Face 2012 in association with Woolworths search awards (click here to see more on the night).

17-year-old Chloe Munton from Port Elizabeth walked away as our 2012 winner. We couldn’t wait to catch up with our Fresh Face beauty and share it with you here.

Fresh FaceFresh Face

Has it sunk in yet?

To be honest, not yet, it all still feels so unreal – like an everlasting dream!

How did it feel when your name was called? What was the first thing that came to your mind?

I was in complete shock and so excited! I couldn’t believe that I was officially the ELLE Fresh Face of 2012 and that I am going to appear in the ELLE magazine, which I have been reading since I was 12.

How would you describe yourself?

Arty, expressive, straightforward and free-spirited.

Who was the first person you called to share the news?

My dad and my sisters, Claire and Candice.

What does this mean to you?

I knew from the moment I won, my life had already changed completely and that I had finally joined the modeling world!

When did you know that you wanted to be involved in the make-up and beauty industry?

When I was little, I loved to watch my mother apply her make-up. From a young age, I would watch Fashion TV with my two sisters and watching the make-up artists applying the models’ makeup, I wished I could be one. Even though I always wanted to be a model, I thought it would be wiser to start when I was slightly older – 17 is a good age to start.

What did you do before ENT to further your dream in the modelling world?

I previously wasn’t actively pursuing a modelling career, but after being approached I did make myself available for a number of photographic and fashion student assignments.

Highlight of the ENT process?

It has brought a renewed confidence in myself.

Tell us something about yourself we would have never guessed!

I was a senior national qualifying swimmer at the age of 13 and 14; my best stroke was breaststroke.

First Fashion Memory?

I came across the Fashion TV channel when I was 10 years old and was into fashion from a very young age.

Best feature?

My eyes.

What are you most excited about?

My dream has officially become a reality! Appearing in ELLE magazine and modelling for Boss is just unbelievable and very exciting!

Who is your role model?

Lady Gaga, I love how she expresses her unique and creative personality through fashion and her music. She became this massive and magnificent showstopper overnight! She’s not afraid to show her true self. Kate Moss also inspires me as a model that has successfully graced the covers of many fashion magazines.

What advice would you give prospective entrants?

Enjoy and treasure every moment! Be true to who you are – don’t be who you’re not.

Choose one or the other…

Tea or coffee?

Tea.

Heels or flats?
