When two of our Cape Town ELLE’s belles, Jenna and Loretta, visited Jo’burg for a night, us Jo’burg ELLE’s belles – Cheska and Leigh – knew we had to show them the best the city has to offer. Here is what we got up to.

A late lunch at the lovely Salvation Café.

We then explored the rest of 44 Stanley Avenue. Our favourite spots: Dokter and Misses, Tiaan Nagel, Anatomy Design and Religion.

Dinner at our Illovo favourite, Good Luck Club.

Of course. a Jo’burg visit wouldn’t be complete without red velvet cupcakes from Wolves!

The next day we started with breakfast at Warm & Glad and made use of their free Wi-Fi before heading off into the city for the day.

Loretta said, ‘I loved Warm & Glad, their selection of international magazines and interesting books was great and I loved the super-cool prints on the wall. Having never been to Jo’burg, I was excited to see this part of South Africa. There seems to be so much going on here and the design elements are amazing.’

We then headed to Maboneng to show off Arts on Main, Main Change and Main Street Life.

Jenna said, ‘I loved spending time in Jo’burg! I couldn’t believe the energy the city has. Cheska was the perfect tour guide. There is so much on the go, so much creativity and what really stood out for me was how friendly the people are. The highlight for me was walking down Maboneng Precinct with the most amazing café called Uncle Merv’s and hiring bicycles to take in the street art. There is just a creative overload in Jo’burg and a buzz that makes it what it is – alive and exciting!’
